GANTZ is a Japanese violent anime written and illustrated by Hiroya Oku. Gantz tells the story of Kei Kurono and his friend Masaru Kato who die in a train accident and become part of a semi-posthumous “game” in which they and several other recently deceased people are forced to hunt down and kill aliens armed with a handful of futuristic items of equipment and weaponry. It has been one of the best sellers in Japan since 2000.
Good news for GANTZ fans because it has now been made into a movie and will be released in 2011!
I have heard that the Japanese are not too happy about the movie version. I must say the characters do look a lot different compared to the ones in the comics. However, I suggest you have a look at the trailer below and judge for yourself.
